Accountant

Plant Mama Alchemy is a social enterprise, located in Baltimore, MD, that empowers the BIPOC community with nutrition, herbalism, and mindfulness experiences. We offer an array classes, services, and events to promote self-agency as a form of liberation to close health disparity gaps. 

We are looking to hire a Accountant to join our team! Our enterprise is growing and we want to ensure our numbers make sense! Now it's your turn to take your skills and the core of our work, to help strategically plan the growth of Plant Mama Alchemy.

Please note, this is a contractual position


Contract Duration

3-6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Key Responsibilities

 

  •  Review and reconcile bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  •  Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  •  Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
  •  Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  •  Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and standards.
  •  Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CEO/Founder to streamline financial processes and improve financial health.
  • Assist with preparing for audits and liaising with external auditors as necessary.


Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the nonprofit or social enterprise sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.


Compensation


$30 - $50 per hour, based on experience.

Work Schedule
Part-time, approximately 10-15 hours per week, with flexible hours.

100% Remote
